Our Mauritian Athletes

Sandhya Tina Staub:

Tina is in love with one thing in life... ultra and extreme sports. Her definition of ultra is when it is a distance beyond 150 km and her definition of extreme is when she does something outside my natural habitat.  Being a mother of a 14 year old boy with a disability, her extreme journey started with him at birth because as Tina says, living life now is beyond the normal; it is extraordinary, and you have to face the extremes.
When Covid-19 struck, Tina made the most of her small island by being creative in how to find ultra distances in such a small place. She decided to run around Mauritius twice. In 2020 it was a distance of 283 km completed in 68h30 and in 2021 it was 215 km over 42h50.  Then the sea beckoned and it was time for her to take on a bigger challenge: Swimming around Mauritius!
House of Blue and arena has been part of 'Ultra Swim Mauritius 200 km Round The Island' project since the very beginning.  The aim of the project was to raise awareness and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association Mauritius.
Tina only started swimming in 2018 and it is incredible that she has achieved such heights in her swimming. House of Blue is proud and honoured to have been part of Tina's odyssey by providing her with the best equipment to reach her goals.
She always says: "I had the best goggles, which really improved my visibility and I had the best wetsuit with no rashes or chafing at all for the entire swim".
She completed 198.9 km around Mauritius in in stages with a total time of 101h07 and the project raised MUR 2,165,022 for children of the Muscular Dystrophy Association Mauritius suffering from scoliosis and in need of urgent corrective surgery.
"I felt proud wearing arena during the challenge not only for the brand but for the values we shared through the brand".

Julie Staub:

Julie is a professional triathlete since 2021 and her goal is to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024. She is a chiropractor, a mother of 2 boys, and Julie hopes that her quest will inspire her children, as well as others, to have big dreams and work hard to achieve them.

"I am delighted to have House of Blue and arena on board. They are more than a sponsor: their warm and human approach makes us feel like family. We can feel that they love to see local athletes succeed and they want us to have the best equipment the world can offer. I'll be forever grateful."

Laurent L'Entêté:

Laurent, 26 years old, has a passion for pushing his limits. He likes new experiences and emotions. He started swimming from the age of 6 and took up triathlon at 15 years.
He comes from a family well known in the local cycling scene and so it was not too hard for him to start triathlon. Since 2019, after finishing his degree in Mechanical Engineering, he set himself the goal of trying to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 and in Los Angeles in 2028.
At the beginning of 2022, he met House of Blue founders after an ocean swim at Pereybere where he shared with them his plans to qualify for the Olympics.   House of Blue are delighted to support Laurent with arena training and open water swimming equipment.
Laurent is currently the Mauritian male triathlon champion in the Olympic and sprint distances. He is also the national cycling champion in the pass-cyclist category and he finished in 2022 in 240th place in the world and 8th in Africa.
